Maine is known for many things, from its beautiful coastlines and national parks to its variety of historic sites. From luxurious mansions to picture-perfect lighthouses, there are all sorts of places to see In Maine that have stories to tell. In Portland, Maine youβll find a metro hub with cobblestone streets, nationally-lauded eats, and a scenic working waterfront in the heart of the Old Port.
And If you love food, you have to make your way to Portland, Maine, which has been a nationally noted culinary destination for years, thanks to the countless food-scene innovators. I was on a hunt to find the best lobster roll, but I surprisingly came across extensive selection of menu! Itβs not all simple lobster rolls and raw oysters on the half-shell, but the dining options appeared endless!
In this video I have pulled together my top picks in Portland, Maine:
The Portland Head Light
Cape Elizabeth which is the home of Portland Head Light, the most photographed light house in the United States! Situated along the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park. And that’s where you find the best lobster rolls!
Bite Into Maine
The best & biggest lobster roll I have ever had was from the Bite Into Maine Food Truck! I have never had lobster that tasted so good. There is a lot of meat, and the lobster rolls are made with FRESH Maine lobster and served with Cape Cod potato chips. And of Course a bottle of Maine Root Blueberry Soda. They have varieties of lobster rolls, and what we had was the CONNECTICUT: lobster meat with warm butter.
I was totally blown away by the lobster rolls. I never had lobster roll that tasted so good.
They also serve Pulled Pork sandwiches, burgers, and more. That being said, it was the best lobster roll I’ve had in my life and well worth the money! The bread was amazing and we loved it all. Worth a stop!

Duckfat
Duckfat is a small, family operated restaurant in downtown Portland, Maine. And it has been serving cones of hot, golden, crispy duck fat-fried Belgian frites (freets). The golden, salty, oily and delicious French fries. These fries are fried twice in duck fat making them golden and crispy. And seasoned with their own blend of signature fry salt. They are served in a paper cone alongside a handmade sauce of choice.
The rest of the menu is also great. Especially the Montreal Reuben Panini, Tomato Fennel soup, and variety of salads & dressings.

Central Provisions
Internationally inspired small plates with local and seasonal ingredients in the historic Old Port. This wildly popular Central Provisions has a very simple organizing principle for its menu of small plates: raw, cold, and hot.
Waits are common, but you can always head downstairs to the buzzy bar to pass the time. As their slogan says; Good Food & Strong Drinks
List of my favorite dishes are as followed :
- Bread and butter ~ Nori Butter, and crusty toasted bread
- Crab Salad
- Oysters Escabeche
- Bone Marrow Toast ~ red onion jam, horseradish cream, and fontina Cheese (Faantina)
- Suckling Pig ~ Apple Brown Butter & Marcona Almonds which is outstandingly sweet, moist, soft, and buttery
All these making it an ideal place to bring a group of adventurous eaters up for a little bit of everything. And a great location to eat some fabulous food.

Portland Lobster Company
Portland Lobster Company, located on the waterfront on Portland’s bustling Commercial Street, where the music is live, the food is always fresh and delicious and the view is the best in town!
Just imagine, Sitting on the dock watching Lobster boats coming, and eating the fresh picked lobsters, or the the lobster rolls with Fresh picked Lobster meat, New England roll with butter on the top, or incredible scallops meal with fresh pan seared scallops with bacon, bourbon and cream!
They are also winners of the Best of Portland 2021 award for the Best Lobster Roll, Best Outdoor Dining, Best Outdoor Bar/Patio & Best Music Venue! And their Maine beers on tap with shipyard beers is their number one seller!
